Have you ever reverse engineered a crochet project?? This is taking a project that has no pattern and figuring it out to duplicate it. I recently did this with a beautiful thread piece one of my neighbors mother made many years ago…
Notice the edging too. I played and calculated and worked up the motif with a sport weight cotton. This also shows the difference gauge can make. That was not the point, I wanted a yarn I could frog over again and see the stitches clearly as I went along.
I am sure this motif is in my future for some project idea. But there are so many beautiful vintage crochet items in thrift shops, attics and grandma’s house why not give it a try, I’m glad I did. This neighbor loaned me some other pieces that I plan to work on the pattern.
