Old Meets New

I’m spending part of my Sunday afternoon winding about 12 hanks of yarn. The modern technology is my yarn swift, purchased on ebay years ago, and my ball winder purchased at a goodyarnsarasota.com. these two items have made it so easy to wind, rewind and clean up odds and ends of yarn. The old way was husband or chair back to hold yarn while I wound into a round ball.

The ball winder gives me beautiful cakes of yarn with a center pull and no rolling all over the floor.  When a whole cake is not used I easily attach the end to ball winder and rewind left over yarn into a new cake.

It strikes me as interesting that my craft uses the simplicity of a hook, swift, ball winder and a computer that produces the patterns that are in my mind. Remarkable.
