Stitches East

Last October I attended my first Stitches event, it was Stitches East in Hartford CT… timing is everything… My 50th birthday was in October and we planned on a trip to Key Largo but things changed and we made an unplanned trip to NY.  Once things got settled with family my husband asked what I would like to do for my birthday, he expected Cape Cod or the Berkshires I’m sure… but I said Hartford.  I explained              why and that I have always wanted to attend but the timing was never right.  I emailed Shannon from Cascade Yarns (she has bought many of my patterns) and let her know I was on my way.  I arrived late afternoon on Friday, my actual birthday, and found Shannon.  She made me feel like a queen, I went to the Friday fashion show, front row seats, and the beautiful dinner afterwards.  Stitches events are hosted by XRX publishing, out dinner table was the owners of XRX, I know:) After speaking with one of the owners that evening she invited me to the designers breakfast before they go to teach for the day.  I was starstruck, don’t tell them.

Shannon continued to introduce me to so many people.  Kathy and the gang at Red Heart, Queen Amy from Crochetville, Kristin Omdahl, Edie Eckman, Gwen Bortner, Jane Frost.

I have since sold a beaded scarf pattern to www.windyvalleymuskox.net in Colorado because of Stitches East.

Timing is everything and my 50’s are looking pretty darn good….

It’s who you know to get there, what you know to stay there…
