You may have heard the term yarn bombing and wondered what it is??? It’s basically covering an everyday inanimate item with yarn. I have a personal example on my porch. Here is how I saved and covered an old school chair from a garage sale… (click on the Bold Italics for links)
Another example was last week at the The Knit and Crochet Show in Manchester NH. Jennifer Ryan of The Celtic Knot Crochet and a group of volunteers yarn bombed the park in front of the Radisson Hotel. This event was sponsored by Red Heart Yarn. Jennifer organized yarn squares knit or crochet to be made and donated from around the country. She and her merry band of volunteers then covered and decorated the trees, benches, gates and dog statues in the park (with permission of course).
The group also yarn bombed the inside of the hotel including the ladies room. I loved the garden in the restaurant the best. Guests coming to check in, that were not part of the Knit and Crochet Show had to wonder what the heck…
Thank you Jennifer, it was a wonderful greeting to the The Crochet Guild of America (CGOA) and The Knit and Crochet Show.. Spread the joy in your own way….
